«Традиции маорийских каное» (передаваемые изустно из поколения в поколение сказания о переселении маори из мифической Гаваики { Hawaiki} на о-ва Новой Зеландии, на 8 основных каноэ. Названия каноэ: Аотеа {Aotea}, Арава {Arawa}, Таинуи {Tainui}, Курахаупо {Kurahaupo}, Такитиму {Takitimu}, Хороута {Horouta}, Токомару {Tokomaru} и Матаатуа {Mataatua}. Названия каноэ актуальны и сегодня. Маори с гордостью вспоминают о них; от членов экипажей этих каноэ ведут своё происхождение отдельные маорийские племена.
